HSE Advisor (ATF-0227)
.
Job Description
So…what does this role actually mean?
Let’s be honest, plenty of HSE Advisor adverts says, “safety is our priority.”
At Fluor, it’s bigger than that.
We’re shaping one of Australia’s most significant resource developments and right now, we’re in the phase where good decisions become great outcomes.
This isn’t a clipboard only role.
This is about influencing, challenging, analysing, and elevating how safety is done across a complex EPCM environment.
We’re looking for someone who doesn’t just follow systems, but understands them, improves them, and uses them to drive real outcomes.
There is also a clear pathway beyond study into execution so if you're looking for long term project continuity, you're in the right place.
Basic Job Requirements
As the HSE Advisor, firstly you will work within an amazingly fun national HSE team that will support you from day one with the upside of this being that you’ll sit right at the intersection of engineering, construction, and contractors, making sure safety isn’t an afterthought but built into everything we do.
You will:
• Develop and implement a project-wide HSE system and framework, aligning client and contractor requirements
• Assess and align contractor HSE systems to project standards
• Partner with teams to embed HSE into design, planning, and delivery, including early phase reviews
• Support contractor engagement, tendering, and evaluation
• Lead and support risk identification and assessment processes (e.g. CRAW, HAZID, QRA)
• Maintain and apply risk registers and HSE frameworks to inform decisions
• Coordinate across teams to ensure consistent HSE implementation
• Conduct incident investigations, audits, and assurance activities to drive improvement
• Analyse HSE performance and trends, providing clear insights
• Develop reporting and dashboards to support decision-making
• Support mobilisation and readiness, ensuring key controls are in place
• Provide clear guidance and challenge to maintain HSE standards
Other Job Requirements
You’re not new to this and you don’t want a role where you’re just keeping things ticking over.
You enjoy the complexity of major projects, you’re comfortable dealing with multiple stakeholders, and you know how to balance governance with practicality and most importantly you are driven by curiosity and care.
You are someone who:
- Sees patterns in data others miss
- Is confident pushing back constructively when something doesn’t stack up
- Can move between detail and big-picture thinking without losing either
- Thrives in an environment where priorities shift and that excites you
Preferred Qualifications
At Fluor, you’ll work on Tier 1, industry‑defining projects with the backing of a truly global EPCM organisation.
We offer:
- Long‑term project pipelines with genuine continuity from study to execution
- Access to Fluor University and world‑class learning and development
- Flexible work arrangements aligned to project phase requirements
- Paid parental leave, wellness benefits, and great employee discounts
- An inclusive culture that values experience, leadership, and collaboration
