Job Description
We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented IT Administrative Specialist to join our team and ensure the efficient operation of computer hardware systems. This role is critical in monitoring and controlling mainframes, minicomputers, and networks of personal computers to support business, scientific, and engineering processes. The ideal candidate will have strong technical knowledge, problem-solving skills, and the ability to foresee and prevent operational issues.
This position is contingent upon contract award.
This position observes and operates computer hardware systems, ensuring optimal performance and efficiency. Responsibilities include monitoring system operations, preventing potential issues, and executing jobs according to operating instructions.
Key Responsibilities:
- Observe the operation of computer hardware systems, including mainframes, minicomputers, and PC networks, ensuring efficient usage.
- Anticipate and take preventive action to avoid operational problems.
- Operate computer hardware systems to process business, scientific, engineering, or other data according to operating instructions.
- Control the console and set controls required to run specific jobs.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Basic Job Requirements
- High school diploma or GED equivalent, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Four (4) to seven (7) years of related experience.
- Proficiency in computer skills, including email, Microsoft Office, and specialized applications as necessary.
- Ability to read, write, speak, and understand English at an intermediate level to comply with safety, health, and security requirements.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to work in a time-conscious and time-effective manner.
