Sr O&M Maintenance Specialist

Summary

This position conducts work directly related to management or general business operations in an organization or functional area. The work requires advanced knowledge gained from a prolonged course of specialized instruction, experience, and expertise. The position includes work requiring the
consistent exercise of discretion and independent judgment with respect to matters of signifcance.

Scope

This position is responsible for all assigned maintenance engineering activities on a large maintenance project or group of smaller projects and maintenance planning and control functions on a small to medium sized maintenance project.  This role may supervise one or more Operations & Maintenance (O&M) employees or direct contractors. 

Principal Job Duties & Responsibilities

  • Promote efficient and cost-effective site maintenance and operations by providing ongoing assessment of personnel and respective staffing levels
  • Establish and coordinate maintenance work schedule by fully understanding scope of work and leading scheduling meetings with operations personnel and maintenance supervision
  • Prepare project reports and detailed estimates by identifying activities, status, and performance
  • Maintain technical knowledge by keeping current on applicable scheduling systems and their full capabilities
  • Ensure proper usage of maintenance systems and programs by conducting training classes for client personnel
  • Develop business opportunities by performing plant operations and maintenance consulting services and for leading application study effort
  • Ensure effective application of all tools, techniques and programs by maintaining strategic maintenance programs, including reliability programs, preventative and predictive maintenance, and computerized maintenance management systems
  • As directed by O&M manager, fulfill contract and Operating System Requirements (OSR)/Operating System Implementation Plan (OSIP) requirements by ensuring that the duties and responsibilities of the project contract are clearly defined, documented, and followed by the Fluor team
  • Achieve business goals by hiring qualified candidates, communicating job expectations; approving performance appraisals; conducting salary administration, coaching, counseling and disciplining employees
  • Enhance skills, performance, and development of all employees by sponsoring and promoting training programs so that adherence to specifications is ensured and work of the highest quality prevails
  • Maintain safe and healthy work environment by following established project procedures relating to safety, work permitting and work order systems; adhering to legal requirements
  • Analyze and make independent recommendations regarding solutions to problems with varying complexity in accordance with organization and/or project objectives and guidelines   
  • Organize and prioritize a variety of projects and multiple tasks in an effective and timely manner, set priorities, and meet deadlines
  • Plan and organize own work assignments, as well as carry out tasks from management staff
  • Maintain compliance with all applicable policies, procedures, and global standards
  • Adhere to and support Fluor's Health, Safety & Environmental and Sustainability Policies
  • Effectively develop and apply the Core Skills to the job
  • May need to travel to attend to business related matters 
  • Meet expectations on attendance and punctuality
  • Other duties as assigned

Basic Job Requirements

  • Accredited four (4) year degree or global equivalent in applicable field of study and four (4) years* of work-related experience or a combination of education and directly related experience equal to eight (8) years* if non-degreed; some locations may have additional or different qualifications in order to comply with local requirements
  • Ability to communicate effectively with audiences that include but are not limited to management, coworkers, clients, vendors, contractors, and visitors
  • Job related technical knowledge necessary to complete the job
  • Ability to learn and apply knowledge of applicable local, state/province, and federal/national statutes and guidelines
  • Ability to attend to detail and work in a time-conscious and time-effective manner

Working Conditions

  • Generally favorable indoor office workspace, and/or;  
  • Various levels of environmental conditions including but not limited to project worksites and vendor/client facilities which may have temporary office space, moving mechanical parts and vibration; high, precarious places; fumes or airborne particles and extreme temperatures and high noise levels   

Preferred Qualifications

• Accredited degree or global equivalent in engineering or business or equivalent work experience, with four (4) years of operations, maintenance engineering, and/or applied home office experience

• Expert in at least one (1) area of plant operations and/or maintenance technology

Market Rate Statement: The market rate for the role is typically at the mid-point of the salary range; however, variations in final salary are determined by additional factors such as the candidate’s qualifications, relevant years of experience, geographic location, internal pay equity, and prevailing market conditions for the specific role.
