Job Description

The purpose of this position is to provide the essential administrative processes, technical knowledge, and perform the work listed.  This role has the responsibility to promote Fluor’s competitiveness within the global marketplace by delivering quality services of unmatched value and technical competence. This position supports the Area Lead or Lead on assigned projects or evaluates, selects, and applies standard engineering techniques to a medium set of moderately difficult assignments.  

  • Position will include inspection, testing, repairing, troubleshooting and maintaining of fire protection sprinkler systems.
  • Assist Fire Alarm technicians with testing and inspection of building Fire Alarm systems. Help with troubleshooting, maintenance and repairs on Fire Alarm system as needed.
  • Working on fire protection sprinkler systems wet and dry installing/repairing piping, fittings, sprinkler heads, grooved couplings and other associated fittings and equipment as necessary.
  • Work will require reading blueprints, working on ladder, working with hand and power tools, pipe threading machine operation and ordering necessary materials as needed to complete projects and tasks assigned.  Follow engineering designs, AHJ and other code criteria.
  • Position will interact and communicate with other trades personnel and site personnel to ensure operational and functionality of fire protection systems.
  • A positive safety mindset and culture is essential to ensure that all personnel adhere to company safety requirements at all times.
  • Monitors construction activities to ensure work quality, efficiency and workmanship meets program standards and specifications. Knowledge of specific work procedures, the materials being used as well as quality and conformance requirements.
  • Communicates requirements and issues with site management and other functional leadership as appropriate.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Basic Job Requirements

• Accredited four (4) year degree or global equivalent in engineering field of study and four (4) years of work-related experience; a recognized professional certification or registration in the applicable field, if required; some locations may have additional or different qualifications in order to comply with local requirements

• Ability to communicate effectively with audiences that include but are not limited to management, coworkers, clients, vendors, contractors, and visitors

• Job related technical knowledge necessary to complete the job

• Ability to learn and apply knowledge of applicable local, state/province, and federal/national statutes and guidelines

• Ability to attend to detail and work in a time-conscious and time-effective manner

• Professional registration (preferred)

• Advanced knowledge of discipline codes and standards, commercial availability and cost of materials

• Practical field experience

• Intermediate computer and software skills to include the use of word processing, e-mail, spreadsheet and electronic presentation programs

• U.S. Citizen

• Must demonstrate basic computer knowledge (I.e., ability to use email, internet, Microsoft Office products such as Word and Excel, to effectively conduct company business on the program). Some positions may require an increased level of computer knowledge, depending on the required duties of the position.

Market Rate Statement: The market rate for the role is typically at the mid-point of the salary range; however, variations in final salary are determined by additional factors such as the candidate’s qualifications, relevant years of experience, geographic location, internal pay equity, and prevailing market conditions for the specific role.
