Job Description

This position reports to the Commissioning and Start up Manager and is responsible for reviewing engineering documents to implement and execute commissioning practices, tools, techniques, and programs in accordance with the project contract.  Position may serve as lead role on small to medium scale projects and/or a supporting role in a medium to large scale complex project worldwide. Work is performed under general supervision and exercises delegated judgment.  

• Prepare project specific written commissioning procedures for Final Phase Execution (FPE)

• Confirm proper operation of all systems and equipment

• Confirm effective application of all strategic commissioning tools, techniques and programs  

• Analyze and make independent recommendations regarding solutions to problems with varying complexity in accordance with organization and/or project objectives and guidelines

• Organize and prioritize a variety of projects and multiple tasks in an effective and timely manner, set priorities and meet deadlines

• Plan and organize own work assignments, as well as carry out tasks from management staff

• Other duties as assigned 

Basic Job Requirements

• Accredited four (4) year degree or global equivalent in applicable field of study and ten (10) years of work-related experience or a combination of education and directly related experience equal to fourteen (14) years if non-degreed; some locations may have additional or different qualifications in order to comply with local requirements  

• Ability to communicate effectively with audiences that include but are not limited to management, coworkers, clients, vendors, contractors, and visitors  

• Job related technical knowledge necessary to complete the job  

• Ability to learn and apply knowledge of applicable local, state/province, and federal/national statutes and guidelines

• Ability to attend to detail and work in a time-conscious and time-effective manner 

Other Job Requirements

• Assist in on boarding new team members through coaching and/or other orientation practices

• Execute a detailed and integrated Startup process and plan

• Report discipline progress against scheduled activities

• Coordinate craft and equipment support for commissioning activities

• Understand current capabilities of automation tools and ensure they are being utilized to the full benefit of the department and project

• Sponsor and promote participation in completion of training programs so adherence to operations guidelines and specifications is ensured

• Continually improve personal technical, commercial, and organizational knowledge and skills

• Display working knowledge of project schedules

• Maintain a safe and healthy work environment by following and ensuring adherence to established project safety procedures, work permit procedures, work order procedures, federal, state and local regulations, lock out/tag out (LOTO) procedures

• Review project schedules and develops work plans to support project milestones

Preferred Qualifications

• Ten (10) years of experience in operations, mechanical, electrical, distributed control systems (DCS) or instrumentation and controls (I&C) commissioning and start up

• Understand project schedules

• Demonstrated willingness and ability to travel on a short notice both internationally and domestically for short and long term assignments

• Ability to speak/read multiple languages

• Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite, equipment (computers, faxes, printers, scanners, etc.)

• Ability to build effective relationships with client, engineering, construction, and vendor personnel

Market Rate Statement: The market rate for the role is typically at the mid-point of the salary range; however, variations in final salary are determined by additional factors such as the candidate’s qualifications, relevant years of experience, geographic location, internal pay equity, and prevailing market conditions for the specific role.

Salary Range: $92,000.00 - $171,000.00
