Job Description
Fluor’s North American Mining & Metals (M&M) operations has an exciting opportunity for a Mine Area Project Manager to join our Calgary and Saskatchewan based team. This role is specific for the BHP Jansen Stage 2 PCM project. Fluor is executing the PCM (Procurement and Construction Management scope) with Hatch performing the Engineer of Record (EoR) role.
As a senior leader within the project, the candidate would be directly responsible for the delivery of procurement, fabrication, and construction/construction management (PFC/CM) projects. The candidate would bring skills and demonstrated experience for direct responsibility of teams of two hundred (200) or more persons.

The candidate would be responsible for activities related to the Non Process Infrastructure Scope (including but not limited to expansion of the 34.5 kV substation facilities, non-process buildings, on site rail infrastructure, etc):
• Ensure Health, Safety and Environmental (HSE) is emphasized throughout the PCM phase of the project.
Establishing and managing project safety plan and ensuring Health, Safety and Environmental (HSE) is emphasized throughout all phases of the project;
• Developing a complete understanding of the prime contract and any relevant subcontracts in order to ensure execution of all aspects of the project in accordance with contractual obligations
• Ensuring full compliance with prime contract with regard to client reporting, notifications, project system start up and close-out requirements;
• Providing project leadership and to ensure the safety, quality, value, timeliness, and profitability of the total project execution
• Establishing good work environment and work relationship among project team members, guide team’s work implementation on aligned and consistent goal and path;
• Managing and controlling the project’s cost and schedule by ensuring that effective project controls are in place and functioning properly, including establishing a project structure reporting, and control, and a change management system;
• Collaborating within sales, operations, and technical teams pursuing prospective projects to develop win strategies, including project execution and commercial strategies;
• Typically managing personnel and providing an environment for the development and professional advancement of staff members,
• Available and able to travel domestically and internationally to attend to business related matters;
• Other duties as assigned.
Basic Job Requirements
A minimum of twenty-five (25) years related experience, with a minimum ten (10) years of project management (or combination of project management, project engineering, engineering management, and/or overall project controls) experience, including field assignment(s) with supervisory responsibilities;
• Bachelor’s degree in engineering or another technical field from an accredited university or equivalent experience;
• Experience in prime contract management of different commercial models including cost reimbursable and lump sum;
•Project or area management experience in international locations and diverse cultural environments is required;
• Demonstrated leadership qualities, delegation skills, with strong organizational capabilities and focus;
• Effective written and verbal English language skills and communication with various stakeholders including reports, peers, management and clients;
• Ability to form and foster collaborative relationships within the business and externally, in support of business development;

Preferred Qualifications
• Demonstration of successful performance as Project Manager on a minimum of four (4) small to medium sized projects or in significant positions on large to very large sized engineering, procurement, fabrication, and construction/construction management (EPFC/CM) projects;
• Relevant experience managing Projects from studies into execution. Manage and control various project team members as well as any subconsultants and contractors;
• Effective management and control of project teams and subcontractors (if any) to ensure a successful outcome of the project and meet client expectations and needs.
• Project and/or area management experience in international locations and diverse cultural environments;
• Promotion of innovation and efficiency of facilities and project execution;
• Knowledge of and demonstrated experience with regulatory processes and requirements including permitting in jurisdictions within and outside Canada;
• Mobility – relocating to site locations for continuity of leadership from home office to the field where necessary;

The market rate for the role is typically at the mid-point of the salary range; however, variations in final salary are determined by additional factors such as the candidate’s qualifications, relevant years of experience, geographic location, internal pay equity, and prevailing market conditions for the specific role.
