Job Description
Our Project Controls Team is looking for a Senior Progress and Reporting Lead for Construction Phase on a multi-billion dollar project located near Ft. Saskatchewan in northern Alberta. The Lead will report directly to the Field Project Controls Manager and/or the Field Project Controls Lead Planner.
Candidate will be responsible for Construction progress measurement on the project including but not limited to the field modularization program and all activities associated with multiple construction contractors, based on the project execution strategies.
As the Progress and Reporting Lead, you will be responsible to work collaboratively with the area construction management team and other disciplines/groups such as Engineering, Procurement, Contracting, Fabrication, Modularization, Construction, pre commissioning and commissioning.
Your key responsibilities shall include:
- Supervise and support the field project controls progress and reporting team
- Setup, administration and maintenance of field Earned Value Management System (MileMarker)
- Ensure that consistent progress measurement and tracking methods and procedures are followed
- Supervise and maintain an accurate and reliable progress basis for all aspects of the work
- Prepare overall progress reporting documents as needed to support management, client and project requirements
- Work with contractors to ensure compliance with progress measurement processes and procedures
- Maintain project progress database for tracking of all work including inclusion of change management items for direct scopes of work
- Regularly analyze contractor progress data to ensure accuracy
- Work with team to provide quantity take-offs from engineering drawings for loading into MileMarker
- Assist in preparation of management level reports related to progress performance against plan and forecast information
- Advise management to potential progress related issues and provide necessary actions as applicable
- Prepare management level curves, graphs and other pertinent statistical information as required
- Provide reports from EVMS (MileMarker) as related to earned hours and installed quantities
- Use tools to estimate construction hours using approved methods for input into EVMS
- Participate in management level presentations where expertise in progress analysis is required
- Work with construction contractors as required when progress issues are encountered
- Interface with client management as required
- Support integration between MileMarker and project schedule activities (P6)
- Conduct, lead or facilitate progress analysis conversations and meetings as required
- Implement the Work Breakdown and Project Coding Structures into the EVMS (MileMarker)
- Interface with the project team to complete required work tasks and deliverables
- Work together with Scheduling team to analyze Contractor’s progress
- Participate in internal and external audits
- Organize and prioritize a variety of multiple tasks in an effective and timely manner, set priorities, and meet deadlines
- Plan and organize own work assignments
- Maintain compliance with all applicable policies, procedures, and global standards
- Any planning or progress related additional work being tasked by PC Manager to support project requirements
- Participate in and adhere to Fluor’s Health, Safety and Environmental and Sustainability Policies
- Participate in required training courses
Basic Job Requirements
- 10+ years of project related experience with 5+ years on large projects and several years as Progress Lead
- Experience with EVMS tools (MileMarker preferred)
- Excellent communication skills
- Fluent in English both written and verbal
- Job related technical knowledge
- Experience in supervising or leading a team of at least 2 individuals
- Significant technical knowledge and practical experience with applicable software systems: MileMarker, Microsoft Office (expertise in Microsoft excel), Change Management, and Progress Measurement / Analysis / Reporting, Power BI.
- Ability to learn and apply knowledge
- Ability to attend to detail and work in a time-conscious and time-effective manner
Other Job Requirements
• Bachelor or master’s degree (preferable but not required)
• Proven experience as a Progress Lead
• Industry- specific experience in all facets and phases of a project: Engineering, Procurement, Construction, Commissioning and Startup
