Job Description
Under the direction of the Fire Chief, the Fire Protection Inspector is tasked with the planning,organization, and execution of the fire prevention activities. This role encompasses conducting fireinspections, fire investigations, public education, reviewing plans, and accepting inspections of fire protection systems. This position will maintain accountability and responsibility of all individually assigned personal protective gear within IAW guidance and regulations. Conduct daily inspections
of management of the Fire Prevention Program to ensure compliance with the Performance Work Statement, Army Regulation 420-5, Air Force Instruction 32-2001, DoDI 6055.06, Unified Facilities
Criteria (UFC), National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) standards, and relevant policies.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Performs inspections and maintains comprehensive records of all facility fire inspections
• Delivers training sessions for Facility Mangers, Fire Wardens, and other fire prevention personnel
• Works in conjuctions with teh Department of Public Works (DPW) to conduct final acceptance
inspections for new construction and renovation projects
• Keeps thorough documentation on teh inspection and testing of sprinkler systems
• Engages in Environmental Safety and Health (ESH) programs
• Contributes to the establishment of long-term goals for the protection of personnel, facilities,
materials and equipment
• Assists with fire investigations as required by AR 420-5 guidelines
• Conduct fire investigations in collaboration with the U.S. Army Criminal Investigation Division, the
Federal Bureau of Investigations, the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, and Firearms, and other federal
agencies as necessary, along with installation and garrison fire departments, adhering to NFPA 921
standards
• Provide direction for the execution of technical investigations of major fires (over $250,000 in
damage and/or loss of life) and forward a formal report of findings to the Deputy Chief of Staff
• Ensure that all fire incidents are thoroughly investigated and that reporting obligations are fulfilled
Basic Job Requirements
High school diploma / GED equivalent, or an equivalent combination of education and experience, and Minimum of four (4) to seven (7) years related experience Requires the job knowledge, skill level and physical ability necessary to
perform assigned job functions.
IFSAC or PRO BOARD CERTIFICATIONS/LICENSES REQUIRED:
• Must possess a standard issue civilian driver’s license.
• Candidates are responsible for ensuring that their records, maintained by their civilian personnel office, reflect
the appropriate certification level.
• Minimum Certification Requirements: Fire Inspector I/II, Fire Instructor I, Public Fire and Life Safety Educator,
Hazardous Material Awareness.
• Preferred Certification Requirements: Fire Investigator, Fire Inspector III, Plans Examiner
