Job Description
Fluor's Advanced Technologies & Life Sciences (ATLS) business offers comprehensive life cycle solutions from design to engineering, procurement, and construction for more than 80 clients at over 600 sites around the world. Join us to be part of a dynamic team that is building a better world. We are seeking a candidate for our Advanced Technologies business segment, to specifically support semiconductor fabrication facilities. The "Semi-Fab" Subject Matter Expert Lead Architect would be responsible for the design, specification, and integration of the architectural design, cleanroom environments, and code-compliance strategy for the base build of a semiconductor fabrication facility. Candidates will have a deep knowledge of layout of semiconductor fab buildings, alternate compliance pathways for egress code exceptions, and familiarity with fab cleanroom design (architectural finishes, raised metal floors, ceiling grid, primary and general support areas, functional area requirements, etc), familiarity with industrial architecture, familiarity with hazardous occupancies, and experience coordinating mechanical systems. This role provides technical leadership across multi-disciplinary design teams, engineering, procurement, and construction teams to ensure the facility design supports efficient operation. Key responsibilities include coordinating with multi-disciplinary teams to drive cohesive design meeting the project requirements and cleanroom classification requirements, assisting client teams in incorporating needed functional / support space while optimizing facility layout/cost, developing the Functional Area Data Sheets and Support Area Data Sheets (FADS & SADS), coordinating with HVAC and process systems, managing vendor and contractor interfaces, and supporting installation, commissioning, and certification activities. Expertise in laying out new fab facilities, balancing cleanroom vs support areas, negotiating Alternate Means & Methods for code compliance with local Authorities Having Jurisdiction, and understanding tool functional areas for semiconductor projects is essential.
Additionally, the Lead Architect will provide support to the essential administrative processes and technical knowledge associated with the practice of architecture in the ATLS businesses. The role of Principal Architect includes oversight of all facets of architectural work and acts as a representative of the department ensuring technical accuracy in project execution in all phases. This role has the responsibility to promote Fluor’s competitiveness within the global marketplace by delivering quality services of unmatched value and technical competence. Principal Architect is a leadership position on assigned projects and performs architectural assignments of any complexity.

We're highly technical and invest heavily into data-centric design and BIM, enabling us to work effectively with project teams across the country and around the world. As a member of our team, in addition to the responsibilities listed above, you can expect to:
Act as a leader in applying Cost Competitive Execution techniques and develop the most cost-effective total project solution for architectural work
Develop and review project Scope of Services, Scope of Facilities, and other project baseline documents for all phases of projects
Develop estimates and schedules, progress reports, and manpower forecasts
Establish, track, and monitor material key quantities; provide analysis and forecasts
Develop and review specifications, including design criteria
Note - This role is anchored in our Greenville office, but we are flexible and open to candidates in other locations or working remotely
Basic Job Requirements
- Accredited professional architectural degree based on country requirements
- Minimum of sixteen (16) years of work-related experience required; majority of experience in the semiconductor industry is preferred
- Professional architectural registration; some locations may have additional or different qualifications in order to comply with local requirements.
- Ability to communicate effectively with audiences that include but are not limited to management, coworkers, clients, vendors, contractors, and visitors.
- Job related technical knowledge necessary to complete the job.
- Ability to learn and apply knowledge of applicable local, state/province, and federal/national statutes and guidelines.
- Ability to attend to detail and work in a time-conscious and time-effective manner.
Other Job Requirements
Expertise using Revit both as a design tool and in the production of architectural deliverables.
Preferred Qualifications
- Advanced knowledge of discipline codes and standards, commercial availability and cost of materials, means and methods of construction.
- Effort-hour estimating and staff forecasting.
- Managing and leading a large project.
- Project set-up, developing control-level schedules, progress reporting, and project close-out.
- Practical field experience.
- Professional architectural registration.

Market Rate Statement: The market rate for the role is typically at the mid-point of the salary range; however, variations in final salary are determined by additional factors such as the candidate’s qualifications, relevant years of experience, geographic location, internal pay equity, and prevailing market conditions for the specific role.

Salary Range: $139,000.00 - $258,000.00
