Job Description

The purpose of this position is to use established practices and guidelines applying educational knowledge of design engineering principles as listed. This role has the responsibility to promote Fluor’s competitiveness within the global marketplace by delivering quality services of unmatched value and technical competence.This position supports the Area Lead or Mechanical Lead on assigned projects and performs routine aspects of engineering assignments, applying basic engineering principles. 

· Establish equipment requirements and prepare equipment data sheets for mechanical

equipment including unfired and fired heat transfer equipment, packaged equipment, pressure

vessels, pumps and compressors, and simple skidded equipment

· Review Piping & Instrumentation Diagrams (P&IDs) for alignment with equipment requirements

· Cross-check Mechanical equipment list with P&IDs and equipment data sheets

· Assist in the review of vendor lists, preparation of quotation requests, bid tabulations, purchase

orders, and considerations for substitutions for technical acceptability

· Review vendor equipment documentation within the discipline and from other disciplines for

compliance with project requirements, and actively seek discrepancy resolution

· Participate in basic selection of equipment

· Review equipment general arrangement and outline drawings

· Participate in equipment modeling activities such as evaluating dimensions, equipment

connections, and equipment performance

· Basic knowledge of mechanical equipment through all stages of a project from conceptual phase

to design development, construction, and commissioning

· Perform and check routine calculations, specify simple equipment, and solve problems of simple

engineering complexity

· Participate in mentoring and training programs for personal development

· May need to travel to attend to business related matters

· Other duties as assigned

Basic Job Requirements

• Accredited four (4) year degree or global equivalent in engineering field of study and no required previous years of work-related experience (new graduate); a recognized professional certification or registration in the applicable field, if required; some locations may have additional or different qualifications in order to comply with local requirements

• Ability to communicate effectively with audiences that include but are not limited to management, coworkers, clients, vendors, contractors, and visitors

• Job related technical knowledge necessary to complete the job

• Ability to learn and apply knowledge of applicable local, state/province, and federal/national statutes and guidelines

• Ability to attend to detail and work in a time-conscious and time-effective manner

• Engineer-in-Training achievement status accomplished

• Advanced knowledge of discipline codes and standards, commercial availability and cost of materials

• Practical field experience

• Intermediate computer and software skills to include the use of word processing, e-mail, spreadsheet and electronic presentation programs

Preferred Qualifications

· Completion of Fundamental of Engineering exam – Engineer in Training (For PE)

· Applicable Co-op or Intern experience

· Strong MS Office application experience (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Teams, OneNote, etc.)

· Familiar with Autodesk 2D CAD

· Familiar with SolidWorks 3D CAD

Market Rate Statement: The market rate for the role is typically at the mid-point of the salary range; however, variations in final salary are determined by additional factors such as the candidate’s qualifications, relevant years of experience, geographic location, internal pay equity, and prevailing market conditions for the specific role.
