Job Description

**Position is contingent upon contract award**

 

Researches, develops, plans and designs mechanical and electromechanical products and systems that may involve nanotechnology. Oversees and coordinates activities involved in fabrication, operation, application, installation and repair of mechanical or electromechanical products and systems. Activities may involve but are not limited to electric generators, internal combustion engines and steam, gas turbines, power-using machines such as refrigeration and air-conditioning equipment, machine tools, material handling systems, elevators and escalators, industrial production equipment and robots used in manufacturing etc.

Basic Job Requirements

  • Mechanical Engineer Bachelor’s Degree from an ABET Accredited University

 

  • At least five (5) years of experience in the following areas:

 

    • Construction or facility maintenance

 

    • HVAC systems, plumbing systems, fire protection systems, or building automation systems

 

  • Must be a US Citizen

 

  • Must have or be able to obtain Tier I security clearance

Other Job Requirements

Must be proficient in reviewing and analyzing HVAC systems, plumbing systems, and fire suppression systems, reviewing mechanical drawings and specifications, and ensuring compliance with applicable codes and standards.

 

Experience with building codes and standards required.

 

AFIT WENG 200, WENG 400, WMGT 231, WMGT 417 required.

 

Requires computer skills and proficiency using email, Microsoft Office or specialized applications as necessary to perform assigned job functions.

 

To ensure compliance with safety, health and security requirements in the contract, employee will possess the ability to read, write, speak and understand the English language at the intermediate level as necessary to perform assigned job functions.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with central utility plants and energy efficiency technologies is highly desirable.

 

  • Familiarity with AFIT WMGT 131 and WMGT 301 is desirable.

 

  • Prior military and/or contingency experience.
