Job Description

The purpose of this position is to provide engineering and technical support for moderate to complex project assignments and may be the primary interface with Fluor discipline engineers/specialists.  

  • BE with 10+ Years of Relevant Design Experience in Mining Industry
  • Experience with primary crushers, secondary crushers, tertiary crushers, SAG mills, AG mills, Ball Mills, hydrocyclones, Vertical Mills and Stirred mills. HPGR experience preferable, but not compulsory;
  • Experience with rougher- scavenger flotation circuits, cleaner flotation circuits, tails thickening, concentrate thickening and concentrate filtration circuits;
  • Gold processing plants: CIL, CIP, gravity concentration, cyanide detox  etc
  • Develop and review Process Design Basis (PDB) and Design Philosophy documents.
  • Develop and review Process Flow Diagrams (PFDs) and Utility Flow Diagrams (UFDs).
  • Develop and review Heat & Material Balances (HMBs).
  • Define operating cases, turndown, start-up, shutdown, and upset scenarios.
  • Perform various process engineering calculations including line sizing, system hydraulics (including Slurry System) and equipment sizing.
  • Develop and review P&IDs including control philosophy, safeguarding layers, and operating logic.
  • Ensure correct representation of control schemes, interlocks, trips, and alarms.
  • Lead and close P&ID reviews / HAZOP actions with proper documentation.
  • Develop Cause & Effect Diagram, Control and Safeguarding Narratives.
  • Prepare process datasheets for major static and rotating equipment.
  • Define process scope of supply for packaged units (e.g., compressors, reactors, heaters, refrigeration, tankage, utility packages).
  • Review vendor documents
  • Evaluate technical bids and prepare Technical Bid Evaluation (TBE) inputs.
  • Coordinate with Process Safety, Mechanical, Piping, Instrumentation, and Electrical disciplines and provide required inputs such as relief and blowdown loads, line lists, instrument process data, electrical load lists, etc.
  • Participate in workshops related to process safety, constructability, and 3D model.
  • Apply knowledge of engineering principles and practices in all areas of assignments
  • Assist others on engineering problems and methods
  • Use advanced techniques, precepts and practices of the relevant field of process work
  • Represent Process Technology in meetings and conferences related to the execution of the Company’s projects
  • Contribute to planning and coordinating work
  • May supervise others and/or be responsible for training of junior engineers/specialists
  • Other duties as assigned 

Basic Job Requirements

• Accredited four (4) year degree or global equivalent in applicable field of study and ten (10) years of work-related experience or a combination of education; some locations may have additional or different qualifications in order to comply with local requirements 

• Ability to communicate effectively with audiences that include but are not limited to management, coworkers, clients, vendors, contractors, and visitors

• Job related technical knowledge necessary to complete the job

• Ability to learn and apply knowledge of applicable local, state/province, and federal/national statutes and guidelines

• Ability to attend to detail and work in a time-conscious and time-effective manner
