Job Description

Position Summary

Construction Manager is responsible for planning, coordinating, and managing all construction activities associated with a large-scale mining plant project. The role will provide construction leadership during project development from the Home Office and subsequently assume full responsibility for on-site construction execution, ensuring the project is delivered safely, on schedule, within budget, and in accordance with quality and technical requirements.


The successful candidate will possess extensive experience in construction management of mining and mineral processing plant, with strong leadership capabilities and a proven track record of managing multidisciplinary construction teams, contractors, and stakeholders throughout the project lifecycle.

 

Key Responsibilities

Home Office Phase
• Participate in project planning, constructability reviews, and execution strategy development.
• Support engineering, procurement, contracting, and project controls teams during project development.
• Review engineering deliverables to ensure construction readiness and efficient execution.
• Develop construction management plans, site mobilization plans, and workforce strategies.
• Participate in contractor prequalification, tender evaluations, and contract award recommendations.
• Develop construction schedules, resource plans, and site logistics strategies.
• Support HSE planning and project risk assessments.
• Coordinate with engineering and procurement teams to ensure timely material and equipment availability.


Site Construction Phase
• Lead and manage all site construction activities for the mining plant project.
• Ensure compliance with project safety, quality, environmental, and regulatory requirements.
• Direct EPC/EPCM contractors, subcontractors, and field construction teams.
• Monitor construction progress against approved schedules and budgets.
• Resolve field execution challenges and coordinate multidisciplinary interfaces.
• Conduct regular site inspections and construction progress reviews.

• Ensure quality control and adherence to project specifications and standards.
• Review and approve contractor work plans, method statements, and construction procedures.
• Coordinate with commissioning and start-up teams to facilitate smooth project handover.
• Prepare and present regular progress reports to project leadership and stakeholders.
• Promote a strong safety culture and ensure implementation of company HSE policies.

Basic Job Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering from an accredited university.

Required Experienceo Minimum 15 years of experience in construction management of -

  • Mining projects
  • Mineral processing plants
  • Ore handling facilities
  • Heavy industrial facilities
  • Large-scale EPC/EPCM projects


Minimum 5 years in a lead Construction Manager role on major mining or process plant projects.

Preferred Qualifications

•  Experience in greenfield mining project development and execution.
•  International project experience in mining or heavy industrial sectors.
•  Experience with commissioning and start-up of mineral processing facilities.
•  Familiarity with international construction standards and mining industry regulations.
