Job Description
This position is responsible for all assigned maintenance engineering activities on a large maintenance project or group of smaller projects and maintenance planning and control functions on a small to medium sized maintenance project. This role may supervise one or more Operations & Maintenance (O&M) employees or direct contractors.
Job duties:
Leadership & Oversight
• Supervise and coordinate daily work activities for electrical installers, technicians, and maintenance personnel.
• Assign tasks, set priorities, and ensure crews follow safety and work standards.
• Train, mentor, and evaluate team members; provide coaching and skill development.
Electrical Installation
• Lead and participate in the installation of electrical systems, equipment, wiring, panels, motors, and controls.
• Interpret electrical schematics, panel schedules, and technical documentation.
• Verify installations meet Electricity at Work Regulations 1989 (EAWR)
o NEC (National Electrical Code), local codes, and organizational standards.
Maintenance & Troubleshooting
• Oversee preventive and corrective maintenance on electrical systems and equipment.
• Diagnose electrical faults and ensure timely repairs.
• Collaborate with engineering, operations, and other departments to resolve technical issues.
Safety & Compliance
• Enforce electrical safety procedures, lockout/tagout, PPE usage, and BS 7671 – IET Wiring Regulations (18th Edition)
• Conduct safety briefings, job hazard analyses, and ensure team compliance.
• Maintain accurate documentation, permits, and inspection records.
Project & Workflow Management
• Coordinate with project managers, planners, and contractors to schedule work and allocate resources.
• Monitor project timelines, material inventory, and job progress.
• Ensure completion of tasks within scope, quality standards, and budget.
Communication & Reporting
• Provide detailed daily reports on job progress, issues, delays, and workforce needs.
• Communicate plans and expectations clearly to crew members and stakeholders.
• Assist in estimating labor, materials, and equipment needs for projects.
Basic Job Requirements
Education & Experience
• Level 3 Diploma in Electrotechnical Installation or Maintenance
o Level 3 NVQ Diploma in Installing Electrotechnical Systems & Equipment
o Level 3 NVQ Diploma in Electrotechnical Maintenance
o Level 3 Electrotechnical Qualification (apprenticeship route)
• AM2 Assessment (Achievement Measurement 2)
o The practical endpoint assessment required for becoming a fully qualified electrician.
• ECS Gold Card
• BS 7671 – IET Wiring Regulations (18th Edition)
• Testing & Inspection Qualification
o Level 3 Award in the Periodic Inspection, Testing & Certification of Electrical Installations (City & Guilds 2391-52).
• CSCS/ECS Health & Safety Assessment
o Required for holding an ECS card.
Physical & Work Requirements
• Ability to work in industrial environments, heights, confined spaces, and varying weather conditions.
• Ability to lift and carry moderate loads and work extended hours as needed.

Position is a Monday through Friday dayshift position, 40 hours per week.
