Job Description

We are seeking a skilled and proactive Smart3D Administrator & Piping Discipline Application Specialist (DAS) to provide technical support and expertise for Hexagon’s Smart3D application within a dynamic project execution environment. The ideal candidate will be responsible for set-up, maintaining and optimizing the Smart3D platform, supporting piping design automation, and ensuring seamless integration and performance across engineering disciplines.


Key Responsibilities

Piping Discipine Application Specialist (DAS)

  • Have in depth knowledge of 3D modelling applications including work sharing capabilities.
  • Be able to develop project procedures to assure a proper (work sharing) execution of the 3d modeling activities.
  • Be able to support the project with a proper configuration of the 3D modeling application and related Fluor suite of utilities.
  • Be able to assist the department head in the development of standard S3D working methods and with the development and implementation of new working processes, reporting tools, checking tools, etc.
  • Have technical piping skills on the level of an intermediate designer to be able to make proper judgements on project instructions.
  • Have basic knowledge of planning and scheduling techniques especially with regards to piping related activities such as timing for issue of deliverables.
  • Have good knowledge of electronic data exchange possibilities both to work sharing offices as well as to jobsites and Document Control department.

Smart3D Administration

  • Manage and maintain the Smart3D environment including setup, configuration, upgrades, and troubleshooting.
  • Administer project-specific Smart3D databases, reference data, and catalog management.
  • Provide user support, training, and guidance to engineering teams on Smart3D functionalities and best practices.
  • Monitor system performance and ensure data integrity and backup procedures are in place.
  • Collaborate with (global) IT and Hexagon support for issue resolution and system enhancements.

Basic Job Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Computer Science, or related technical field.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience with Smart3D in an engineering or EPC environment.
  • Strong knowledge of Smart3D administration, piping design, and automation tools.
  • Experience with SmartPlant Foundation, Smart Reference Data, and integration with other Hexagon tools is a plus.
  • Proficient in scripting languages (e.g., VBScript, C#, or Python) for automation tasks.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to work in a fast-paced, project-driven environment.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills to support multidisciplinary teams.
