Job Description
The purpose of this position is to provide the essential administrative processes, technical knowledge, and direction as listed. This role has the responsibility to promote Fluor’s competitiveness within the global marketplace by delivering quality services of unmatched value and technical competence. This position serves as an internal geotechnical engineering consultant to projects.
Basic Job Requirements
- Accredited four (4) year degree or global equivalent in engineering or geoscience field of study
- Master’s degree in geotechnical engineering
- Minimum five (5) years of geotechnical engineering design experience
- Proficient user of geotechnical limit-equilibrium and numerical modeling software, specifically PLAXIS 2D/3D
- Capable of scoping and interpreting geological, geophysical, and geotechnical site characterization data for onshore, coastal, and nearshore projects.
- Ability to work effectively on multiple projects and as part of a multidisciplinary team
- Ability to communicate effectively with audiences that include but are not limited to management, coworkers, clients, vendors, contractors, and visitors
- Job related technical knowledge necessary to complete the job
- Ability to learn and apply knowledge of applicable local, state/province, and federal/national statutes and guidelines
- Ability to attend to detail and work in a time-conscious and time-effective manner
Other Job Requirements
- Provides geotechnical engineering expertise for Civil/Structural/Architectural (CSA), Pipelines, and Marine Terminals engineering functions.
- Performs detailed geotechnical analysis and design on onshore, coastal, nearshore, and offshore projects.
- Prepares scopes of work for 3rd-party geotechnical engineering services.
- Reviews and approves 3rd-party proposals, design calculations, drawings, and reports.
- Provides support to Lead Engineers from CSA, Pipeline, and Marine Terminals Lead on projects.

Preferred Qualifications
- Registered Professional Engineer
- Minimum ten (10) years of geotechnical engineering design experience, including experience in petrochemical plants, nuclear power plants, onshore pipelines, and ports and marine terminals
- Proficient user of GIS and/or CAD software for integration of topographic, geological, and geotechnical data
- Capable of designing foundations, earth retaining structures, earthworks, working platforms, and pavements for petrochemical plants and nuclear power plants
- Capable of scoping and managing seismic hazard assessments and performing seismic site-response analyses

Market Rate Statement: The market rate for the role is typically at the mid-point of the salary range; however, variations in final salary are determined by additional factors such as the candidate’s qualifications, relevant years of experience, geographic location, internal pay equity, and prevailing market conditions for the specific role.

Salary Range: $103,500.00 - $191,500.00
