Job Description

This position performs a pivotal role within the legal function of the company that is focused on legal compliance.  As a member of the Legal Department, this position will provide support to attorneys in the review and editing of construction and engineering contracts and non-disclosure agreements for: (i) risk management, (ii) track and monitor ongoing legal projects and contract databases, and (iii) other legal matters as they arise.

Under general supervision, this position assists attorneys in the performance of duties including ensuring policies and contracts meet corporate policies and all applicable laws to protect the organization from legal action and mitigate risk impacts to the company.  This position will be required to participate in the collection of information and reporting on tasks and risk identification related to their assigned contracts and duties.

Paralegals customarily and regularly manage high volumes of tasks and projects independently and coordinate with attorneys when appropriate as they perform the following responsibilities:

  • Assist in-house counsel on the drafting and deployment of contracts, supporting multiple attorneys and projects in North and South America.
  • Oversee the contracts, from initial requests to execution including managing contract databases and templates, managing deadlines, and aligning with attorneys on contracts and developing appropriate path forward.
  • Understand, draft, review, redline, compare and combine a variety of legal documents (e.g., contracts, confidentiality agreements, templates, etc.) and identify risks.  Ensure proper formatting and article reference links using track changes tool and Adobe.
  • Liaise and collaborate with internal stakeholders to gather necessary information for contract negotiation and development. Assist attorneys in negotiating contract terms with third parties to ensure favorable terms and adherence to internal policies and risk mitigation standards.
  • organize and prioritize a variety of projects and multiple tasks in an effective and timely manner, setting priorities and meeting deadlines.
  • Establish and maintain contract files in accordance with Fluor procedure .
  • Conduct legal research on a variety of topics including contract law.
  • Monitor changes in law and assist with implementation needs.
  • Handle sensitive, confidential, and proprietary matters on a routine basis with confidentiality.
  • Plan and organize own work assignments, as well as carry out tasks from management, while adhering to Fluor’s policies and procedures.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders, fostering collaboration and client satisfaction.
  • All other duties assigned by manager.

Basic Job Requirements

  • Accredited four (4) year degree or global equivalent in applicable field of study and two (2) years* of work-related experience or a combination of education and directly related experience equal to six (6) years* if non-degreed.
  • Excellent research, drafting, and document management skills.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to build relationships across departments.
  • Discretion, integrity, and professionalism in handling confidential information.
  • Proven ability to work independently, prioritize tasks, and meet tight deadlines.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with audiences that include, but are not limited to, management, coworkers, clients, vendors, contractors and visitors.
  • Job related technical knowledge necessary to complete the job to include, but not limited to, proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and SharePoint.

Preferred Qualifications

  • 5+ years of progressive paralegal experience, with at least 2+ years in an in-house counsel environment.
  • Knowledge of contract structures and risk management processes, as applicable.

Market Rate Statement: The market rate for the role is typically at the mid-point of the salary range; however, variations in final salary are determined by additional factors such as the candidate’s qualifications, relevant years of experience, geographic location, internal pay equity, and prevailing market conditions for the specific role.

Salary Range: $59,000.00 - $111,000.00
