Job Description

The Risk and Insurance Management Department’s primary objective is to help maximize corporate profitability by protecting against financial loss of corporate assets and by delivering innovative risk and insurance management services to both internal and external clients. The Risk and Insurance Management Department is also responsible for ensuring global adherence to the company’s corporate risk and insurance guidelines.

 

Workers Compensation

 

  • Serve as principal resource to field operations for workers compensation claim management:
  • Manage field operations’ day-to-day reporting of claims to insurers
  • Advise and assist other colleagues with gathering information necessary to report claims
  • Develop or improve internal claim reporting procedures and effectively communicate procedures to employees
  • Coordinate return to work efforts with projects and TPAs
  • Identify and implement process improvements and technologies
  • Manage all workers’ compensation claims to closure
  • Establish and lead claim reviews  
  • Collaborate with internal and external counsel as required
  • Attend mediations, trials and hearings as requested
  • Monitor claims exceeding pre-determined reserve threshold
  •  Provide documented rationale for settlement or reserve changes exceeding authority levels
  • Communicate effectively with customers and claimants to handle and mitigate claims.
  • Utilize available system resources to organize, track and report key data necessary to thoroughly recognize trends and develop strategies to improve overall claim processes and results
  • Develop, analyze and distribute management reports

General & Automobile Liability and other Third-Party Liability Claims

 

  • Serve as principal resource to internal operations for the coordination of the reporting and ongoing management of all non-litigated general and automobile liability claims.
  • Manage notice practices and procedures
  • Manage TPA or carrier relationship regarding claim needs
  • Facilitate and maintain all carrier special claim handling instructions
  • Work with internal and external resources in locating pertinent data for insured claims
  • Coordinate the settlement of all matters in accordance with internal guidelines
  • Work together with Legal Services on all litigated insured claims
  • Coordinate notice practices with Legal Services and outside resources to assure timely and accurate notice of all third-party suits
  • Where appropriate and in conjunction with Legal Services, manage carrier communication on all insured litigated matters
  • Address coverage issues with carriers, brokers, and counsel

 

Miscellaneous / Other Claim Responsibilities

 

  • Property Related Claims
    • Manage & direct all property related claims to assure timely notice, adjuster assignment and information flow between Fluor office / project and the company’s property insurer.

  • Marine Cargo Claims

Where necessary, support specialty marine resources in the coordination of any marine cargo claims.

Basic Job Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited four-year university is required.
  • Professional designation including CPCU, ARM, or AIC preferred
  • Minimum 10 years of experience in direct claims adjustment and handling or relevant risk management, insurance, brokerage, or legal field experience with heavy emphasis in Workers Compensation, Commercial General Liability, and Property required. 
  • Construction industry experience preferred
  • Experience working with OCIPs and CCIPs preferred
  • Licensing as required by law or company policy.
  • Strong interpersonal and communications skills.
  • Strong organizational skills
  • Detail oriented
  • Familiarity in Microsoft Office – Word, Excel & PowerPoint

Other Job Requirements

  • Working with outside resources effectively:
  • Collaborate with TPAs and carriers to enhance claim management processes and implement cost containment strategies
  • Effectively utilize broker and insurer services
  • Identify vendor service issues and implement corrective actions
  • Work with outside resources to develop and implement loss trending analyses

Market Rate Statement: The market rate for the role is typically at the mid-point of the salary range; however, variations in final salary are determined by additional factors such as the candidate’s qualifications, relevant years of experience, geographic location, internal pay equity, and prevailing market conditions for the specific role.

Salary Range: $92,500.00 - $162,500.00
