The Sales Manager is responsible for driving business growth, developing strategic client relationships, and securing new project opportunities across targeted industry sectors within the Europe, Middle East and Africa region (EAME).
This position serves as a strategic, client-facing leadership role focused on identifying opportunities, positioning Fluor's capabilities, developing account strategies, and generating sustainable revenue growth. The Sales Manager will work closely with business line leaders, operations teams, technical experts, and proposal teams to expand Fluor's market presence and achieve business development objectives. The Sales Manager is also expected to have a strong technical understanding of the mining sector, in order to facilitate and contribute effectively in discussions with client technical teams.
Principal Job Duties & Responsibilities
• Develop and execute strategic sales and business development plans to achieve revenue, profitability, and growth objectives.
• Identify, qualify, and pursue new business opportunities aligned with Fluor's strategic priorities.
• Build and maintain long-term relationships with key clients, industry stakeholders, partners, and decision-makers.
• Develop and manage strategic account plans for existing and prospective clients.
• Lead customer engagement activities, including executive meetings, presentations, workshops, networking events, and industry conferences.
• Coordinate capture planning activities and develop win strategies for major pursuits.
• Collaborate with technical, operational, and commercial teams to develop compelling client value propositions.
• Support and drive proposal development, commercial negotiations, contract discussions, and project handover activities.
• Maintain an active and accurate sales pipeline, forecasts, and opportunity tracking information.
• Monitor market conditions, competitor activities, industry trends, and investment opportunities.
• Drive customer satisfaction and strengthen long-term client relationships to promote repeat business.
• Promote Fluor's capabilities and solutions while ensuring compliance with company policies, ethics, and governance standards.
• Provide regular business development reports, market intelligence, and strategic recommendations to leadership teams.
• Participate in annual business planning and contribute to regional growth strategies.
Basic Job Requirements
• Bachelor’s degree in engineering,
• Minimum 10 to 15 years of progressive experience in sales, business development, account management.
• Proven track record of securing and growing large, complex business opportunities and strategic accounts.
• Strong understanding of the mining industry, especially centered around engineering, construction and consulting.
• Demonstrated ability to build relationships with executive-level stakeholders and key decision-makers.
• Experience managing complex sales cycles from opportunity identification through contract award.
• Strong commercial acumen and understanding of contract structures, risk management, and commercial negotiations.
• Excellent communication, presentation, negotiation, and stakeholder management skills.
• Strong analytical, strategic planning, and problem-solving capabilities.
• Ability to work effectively in a matrixed, multicultural, and geographically dispersed environment.
• Willingness and ability to travel within South Africa and internationally as required.
Preferred Qualifications
• Bachelor’s degree in mining technical related field (Metallurgy, Mechanical, Electrical, Civil, Structural, Instrumentation)
• Good understanding of the design of mining process plants and the relevant technical interdependencies
• Experience within a global engineering, consulting, EPC/EPCM, construction, technology, or professional services organization.
• Established network of industry contacts within the target region (EAME).
• Demonstrated success managing strategic accounts and securing large-scale projects.
• Experience leading complex pursuits involving multiple stakeholders and cross-functional teams.
• Strong understanding of market analysis, client engagement strategies, and business growth planning.
• Knowledge of sustainability, digital transformation, and emerging industry trends.
• Professional memberships with relevant industry associations.
• Proven ability to influence senior leaders and drive strategic business outcomes.
