Job Description

In this site-based role, you will be located full-time at our project site in Kitimat, BC. Working in a fast-paced, schedule-driven environment, you will be expected to demonstrate resilience, adaptability, and sound judgment while supporting project objectives. The emphasis of the role is on employee relations, client interaction, workforce development, and people management. This position provides administrative, human resources, and employee support services across all departments and personnel on a large industrial construction project.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and coordinate day-to-day Human Resources activities ensuring compliance with company policies, employment legislation, and project requirements.
  • Serve as a trusted advisor to project leadership by providing guidance on employee relations, performance management, workforce planning, staffing, investigations, and other personnel matters in a multi-employer environment.
  • Support the full employee lifecycle, including recruitment, onboarding, workforce mobilization, orientation, transfers, extensions, terminations, and employee engagement initiatives, while partnering with hiring managers, Talent Acquisition, and project stakeholders.
  • Develop and maintain strong working relationships with project teams, clients, community stakeholders, and local Indigenous communities to support workforce development, recruitment, and employment initiatives.
  • Coordinate and monitor staffing plans, personnel authorizations, workforce forecasts, organizational data, and project reporting to ensure workforce requirements align with project schedules and budgets.
  • Support employee communications, training, and engagement programs while contributing to a positive, inclusive, and safety-focused workplace culture.
  • Manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced project environment, providing administrative and HR support to project personnel and leadership as required.
  • Other duties as assigned 

Basic Job Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in Human Resources or related field. CHRP designation or working towards the designation preferred.
  • Accredited four (4) year degree or global equivalent in applicable field of study and seven (7) years of work-related experience or a combination of education and directly related experience equal to eleven (11) years if non-degreed; some locations may have additional or different qualifications in order to comply with local requirements  
  • Minimum five (5) to seven (7) years of progressive human resources experience with practical hands-on application of key HR competencies 
  • Construction or project site experience is required 
  • Three (3) to five (5) years of demonstrated complex employee-relations investigations experience is required
  • Ability to work in a diverse, fast-paced and dynamic environment 
  • Able to demonstrate organizational skills with the ability to prioritize effectively and manage multiple tasks in an environment with competing demands and deadlines 
  • Excellent understanding and application of Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) including excel reporting capabilities; and previous experience using SharePoint is a plus.

  • Understand main Human Resource concepts, policies, and administrative procedures
  • Good knowledge of Human Resource policies and procedures
  • Demonstrated problem-solving skills of a complex nature
  • Demonstrated ability to be discreet with confidential company and employee information
  • Experience providing consultation to managers and HR staff
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Proficient computer and software skills to include the use of word processing, email, spreadsheets, and electronic presentations
  • Experience using SAP SuccessFactors

Depending on the location of the successful applicant, the position will either be a local 5 days on 2 days off or a fly in/fly out position on a 14 X7 or 14 X 14 rotation with applicable cross-shift support.

Compressed work schedule: The Fluor Canada offices work a compressed work schedule offering every second Friday off. 

Salary is based upon experience. Salary Range: $66,000.00 - $122,000.00

The market rate for the role is typically at the mid-point of the salary range; however, variations in final salary are determined by additional factors such as the candidate’s qualifications, relevant years of experience, geographic location, internal pay equity, and prevailing market conditions for the specific role.
