Job Description
The Survey Lead is responsible for overseeing and directing all survey-related activities on complex, large-scale construction projects. This role provides technical leadership across both field and office survey operations, ensuring the accuracy, integrity, and timely delivery of survey data in support of engineering design and construction execution. The Survey Lead plays a critical role in establishing and maintaining project control systems, integrating survey data into construction workflows, and supporting high-precision installation of structural, mechanical, and piping systems.
In addition to technical expertise, this role involves managing survey teams and subcontractors, enforcing safety, quality, and environmental standards, and coordinating closely with engineering, construction, and project stakeholders. The Survey Lead must be capable of solving complex problems in dynamic environments, driving continuous improvement in survey processes, and delivering accurate as-built documentation in compliance with project and regulatory requirements, including those in highly regulated industries such as pharmaceuticals.
Basic Job Requirements
• Bachelor’s degree in surveying, Geomatics, or Civil Engineering
• 15–20+ years of surveying experience
• Multi-Disciplined Field Engineering Survey experience with earthwork, excavation, concrete, structural steel, mechanical, and piping, etc. installation layout and verification
• Knowledge of engineering and construction methods and processes customarily acquired over time through specialized instruction or practical experience.
• Demonstrated proficiency with Survey CAD software, and drafting of as staked/as-built data.
• Provide project completion documentation including "As-Built" records.
• Ability to manage survey control systems across large sites
• Integration of survey data into design and construction models
• Establish and maintain project control (horizontal & vertical)
• Conduct as-built verification surveys
• Perform QA/QC checks on all survey data
• Support high-precision installation of equipment and systems
• Responsible for the accurate layout of construction work, recordation of field data according to job specifications and appropriate methods of performing survey activities.
• Oversee the development and management of survey data.
• Oversee the administration of the survey work request program.
• Supervise the preparation of survey CAD drawings, including generation of Digital Terrain Models (DTM) and volumes computations.
• Perform and/or check survey computations as required in the performance of duties.
Other Job Requirements
• Knowledge of supervisory functions relating to heavy industrial construction surveying field & office activities.
• Experience working with, supervising, and administering subcontractor’s workforce
• Coordinate with engineers, contractors, and project teams
• Manage survey crews and subcontractors
• Strong communication and coordination skills
• Problem-solving in complex environments
• Provide technical direction to the survey team and/or sub-contracted survey crews, including verification of survey crews’ control points and work.
• Direct the survey team’s implementation of the project safety, quality, and environmental programs.
• Provide Construction Survey support to both Field Engineering and Field construction team.
• Establish and/or verify and maintain the project’s survey control network.
Preferred Qualifications
• Experience with UAV/Drones.
• Ensure survey accuracy meets strict pharma standards

Market Rate Statement: The market rate for the role is typically at the mid-point of the salary range; however, variations in final salary are determined by additional factors such as the candidate’s qualifications, relevant years of experience, geographic location, internal pay equity, and prevailing market conditions for the specific role.

Salary Range: $103,500.00 - $191,500.00
