Job Description
The Senior Consultant role provides senior technical leadership, technical guidance and advisory support for a first-of-a-kind (FOAK) mining/metallurgical chemical processing facility for critical minerals with regulatory requirements. This role leverages deep expertise in process engineering, technology evaluation, and project development to guide the project from early-stage definition through the conceptual engineering stage.
The position is primarily focused on high-value technical decision-making, integration of complex processing knowhows and technologies, and ensuring the overall integration of the process circuit for the project achieves performance, safety, operability, and regulatory objectives.
Principal Responsibilities
- Provide strategic technical guidance on process design, technology selection, and system integration for a FOAK mining/metallurgical chemical processing facility for critical minerals with regulatory requirements.
- Lead and/or perform independent technical reviews (e.g., “cold eyes reviews”) of process design packages from knowhow development, conceptual engineering deliverables, and technology licensors
- Evaluate and integrate emerging or first-of-a-kind technologies with balance-of-plant systems to ensure safe, reliable, and operable design
- Support development of process design basis, block flow diagrams, heat and material balances, and key process specifications
- Advise on commissioning, startup strategy, and operational readiness for complex processing systems
- Identify technical risks and develop mitigation strategies, particularly related to performance guarantees and FOAK uncertainty
- Support value engineering and optimization initiatives to improve project economics, operability, and sustainability
- Interface with licensors, engineering contractors, and client teams to align technical decisions and resolve complex issues
- Provide guidance on regulatory and environmental considerations specific to nuclear/uranium processing facilities
- Mentor and support process engineering teams, contributing to technical excellence and knowledge transfer
- Other related duties may be assigned
Basic Job Requirements
- Accredited Four (4) year degree in Chemical Engineering or related discipline
- 20 or more years of experience in process engineering, including project development through execution
- Demonstrated experience with complex, integrated processing facilities and new/innovative technologies
- Strong background in feasibility studies, FEED development, and process design oversight
- Experience supporting or leading first-of-a-kind (FOAK) or technology-driven projects
- Ability to evaluate technology readiness, integration risks, and operability considerations

Market Rate Statement: The market rate for the role is typically at the mid-point of the salary range; however, variations in final salary are determined by additional factors such as the candidate’s qualifications, relevant years of experience, geographic location, internal pay equity, and prevailing market conditions for the specific role.
