ROLE: HSE Manager – SRE Project (Adelaide)
HSE Manager – Major Resources Project (SRE)
Preferably Adelaide Based (Interstate Applicants Welcome)
Study Phase: Monday–Friday for local / 11:3 for interstate (middle weekend in Adelaide)
Execution Phase (2028 onward): 2/1 roster at Olympic Dam
Full‑time – Tier 1 Global EPCM Environment

You will shape the HSE direction for one of Australia’s most significant resources projects guiding the SRE Project safely through both Study and Execution phases.
ABOUT THE JOB
What does that look like?
- Stand up and lead a unified EPCM HSE management process that leverages client‑developed systems and integrates contractor procedures—establishing one team with common HSE goals, controls, and measures.
- Develop and implement the Project HSE Management Plan to ensure compliance with statutory, client, and corporate requirements.
- Drive project‑level HSE strategies and improvement programs to meet targets and deliver continuous improvement.
- Oversee and facilitate all project risk assessments, including the Construction Risk Assessment Workshop (CRAW) and other major risk reviews.
- Provide expert guidance on WHS legislation, safety‑in‑design, engineering integration, risk management, and HSE best practice.
- Lead, mentor, and develop the HSE team to ensure consistent, high‑quality delivery and capability growth.
- Plan and conduct contractor audits, inspections, and performance reviews, ensuring timely close‑out of actions.
- Lead incident investigations, emergency preparedness, and injury management processes.
- Monitor, analyse, and report HSE performance trends, risks, and corrective actions to senior leadership and the client, using leading indicators and clear dashboards.
- Champion a positive, inclusive safety culture across Fluor, client teams, and contractors—reinforcing “Safer Together” behaviours and common standards.
- Ensure environmental compliance, support regulatory approvals, and maintain alignment with project governance systems.
- Collaborate closely with engineering, construction, commissioning, and operations to embed HSE requirements into all project activities and change management
- Be able to adapt and evolve with eh stages of the project as it moves from studies to execution.
ABOUT YOU
About You:
Qualifications & Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in OH&S, Environmental Science, or related discipline.
- Minimum 10 years’ HSE experience, with 5+ years in HSE Manager roles on major mining or large‑scale construction projects.
- Strong understanding of Australian (WA/SA) HSE legislation and large‑project HSE systems.
- Lead ISO Auditor and Lead ICAM Investigator qualifications.
- Demonstrated capability to lead high‑performance HSE teams and influence safety culture on complex projects.

- Strong leadership, communication, and stakeholder engagement capability.
- Advanced risk management, analytical, and problem‑solving skills.
- High attention to detail with strong planning and organisational capability.
- Proficiency with HSE management systems, reporting tools, and contractor oversight.
