When you join Fluor, you become part of a story much bigger than any single project. It’s a story built on persistence, ingenuity, and a century-long pursuit of engineering excellence across Australia and the world. At Olympic Dam—one of the most complex and fascinating resource operations on Earth—that story continues.

Olympic Dam has always been a test of tenacity. Buried deep beneath South Australia’s arid plains lies a site that has challenged generations of engineers and innovators. From its early discovery to its rise as one of the world’s largest deposits of copper, uranium, gold, and silver, this project has demanded resilience and vision in equal measure.

Today, the SCM27 program marks a new chapter, a transformative undertaking to renew infrastructure, enhance performance, and deliver the next evolution of this world-class operation. And at the heart of this transformation will be you.

Your Role

As the Non-Hot Metals Area Manager, you’ll shape the success of Olympic Dam’s non-hot metals works through the Study and Execution phases. Reporting to the Project Manager, you’ll hold end-to-end accountability for your area’s safety, strategy, schedule, and overall delivery.

You will:

  • Drive the safe execution of non-hot metals infrastructure within the greater SCM27 framework.
  • Lead contract formation, contractor readiness verification, and mobilisation to one of Australia’s most challenging brownfield environments.
  • Integrate construction, engineering, and commissioning to rapidly solve discovery scope issues as they arise.
  • Oversee scope, cost, and quality targets with precision, aligning with the Project Execution Strategy (PES).
  • Ensure all activities adhere to SCM27 governance standards and BHP’s project procedures.
  • Build relationships across operations, design, and delivery partners—keeping critical paths on course through collaboration and foresight.

This role will test your ability to stay composed under complexity, thrive in multidisciplinary coordination, and lead others to deliver where stakes are high and conditions unforgiving.

Who You Are

  • Experienced in area or project management within large-scale industrial environments.
  • Skilled at integrating engineering, construction, and commissioning functions.
  • Familiar with BHP systems and processes.
  • Knowledgeable in acid plants, dust handling, gas systems, or feed preparation infrastructure.
  • A leader who unites people around shared purpose, even amid logistical and technical hurdles.
