Job Description
At Fluor, we design and build some of the world’s largest and most exciting capital projects, working in a collaborative team environment. This position is with the Mechanical Equipment team. We are responsible for all the process mechanical equipment on a project, from concept through installation and commissioning.
This individual will serve as a Responsible Engineer (RE) handling highly complex, large equipment packages performing complex to difficult engineering assignments.
• Manage a team of approximately twelve (12) mechanical engineers on a project (domestic and international)
• Develop and review project Scope of Services, Scope of Facilities, and other project baseline documents for all phases of projects
• Develop and review estimates and schedules, progress reports, including manpower forecasts
• Review and approve vendor lists, quotation requests/bid tabulations/purchase orders and review substitutions for technical acceptability
• Identify deviations in job scope, estimate magnitude of changes, and initiate trends or change orders
• Adhere to and support Fluor’s Health, Safety & Environmental and Sustainability Policies
• Analyze and make independent recommendations regarding solutions to problems with varying complexity in accordance with organization and/or project objectives and guidelines
• Participate in people development through mentoring, development of training material, conducting training seminars, and performance appraisal input and counseling
• Perform and check calculations, specify equipment, and solve problems of complex to difficult engineering complexity
• Review vendor equipment documentation within the discipline and from other disciplines for compliance with project requirements, and actively seek discrepancy resolution
• Provide consultation and/or on-site assistance for the installation, commissioning, and/or start up of equipment
• Other duties as assigned
Basic Job Requirements
• Accredited four (4) year degree or global equivalent in engineering field of study and eight (8) years of work-related experience.
• Ability to communicate effectively with audiences that include but are not limited to management, coworkers, clients, vendors, contractors, and visitors
• Ability to learn and apply knowledge of applicable local, state/province, and federal/national statutes and guidelines
• Ability to attend to detail and work in a time-conscious and time-effective manner
Other Job Requirements
• Advanced knowledge of discipline codes and standards, commercial availability and cost of materials
• Effort-hour estimating and staff forecasting
• Relevant EPC experience
• Practical field experience
• Intermediate computer and software skills to include the use of word processing, e-mail, spreadsheet and electronic presentation programs
Preferred Qualifications
• Equipment knowledge and experience: WIFI Stills, Modular/Skidded Systems, Autoclaves, Fermenters, Bioreactors, Centrifuges, Chromatography Skids, CIP Systems, Skidded Hygienic Equipment, Tanks, Pumps, Heat Exchanger, Rare Earth processing equipment, Semiconductor equipment, Datacenters, etc.
• Professional registration or membership in technical society
• Knowledge of Industry Codes and Standards
• Knowledge of Validation Requirements - CFR, URS, SRS, TOP’s, IQ, OQ, PQ, FAT’s, SAT’s, etc.
• Working knowledge of Autodesk 2D CAD and SolidWorks 3D CAD
• Familiarity with Smart Plant 3D, Revit and Navisworks
Core industry experience preferred:
• Life Sciences – Drug substances and Drug products, Blood Fractionation processes and Vaccines
• Advanced Technology – Semiconductor, Smart Batteries, and Datacenters
• Advanced Manufacturing – Carbon Fiber production, Foods (Sugar, Potato Chips), Consumer Goods, Sustainability projects, and Rare Earth Minerals production.

Market Rate Statement: The market rate for the role is typically at the mid-point of the salary range; however, variations in final salary are determined by additional factors such as the candidate’s qualifications, relevant years of experience, geographic location, internal pay equity, and prevailing market conditions for the specific role.

Salary Range: $102,000.00 - $184,000.00
