Job Description
Fluor is seeking candidates for opportunities within our Program Delivery Support (PDS) team, working alongside the California High-Speed Rail Authority, to provide program delivery and program management services for one of the largest planned infrastructure projects in the U.S.
The system will connect the 500-mile stretch between the Los Angeles region with the San Francisco Bay Area, with up to 24 stations. The first phase of the program is currently under construction in California’s Central Valley.
We are seeking a highly skilled Civil Engineer with a strong focus on strategic delivery and expertise in high-speed rail projects. The ideal candidate should possess comprehensive knowledge of various phases of high-speed rail project development, particularly in the preliminary and detailed design stages for civil works.
This includes alignment, earthworks, drainage, structures, road and public utility diversions, and construction methods. Additionally, coordination with rail systems, train operations, construction scheduling, and testing and commissioning are vital.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams and the California High Speed Rail Authority to develop strategic plans for high-speed rail projects, ensuring alignment with project goals and objectives.
• Provide technical assistance Project Managers in the field of High Speed Rail for engineering review of the design consultant’s work and management support.
• Receive or identify subjects for an initial study by the Pool of Experts (civil, hydraulics/hydrology, structures, construction method, architecture, track and systems, rail operations, safety and security, airports, airport legal, etc.)
• Manage and coordinate the Pool of Experts intervention and assist in the preparation of their report.
Basic Job Requirements
• Accredited four (4) year Civil Engineering degree or global equivalent in engineering field of study and six (6) years of work-related experience
• Civil engineering experience
• 5 years of rail experience
Other Job Requirements
• Ability to apply engineering judgment in design of high-speed rail projects.
• General knowledge of various phases of high-speed rail project development with specific knowledge of the preliminary and detailed design phases for the civil works (alignment, earthworks, drainage, structures, road and public utility diversions, construction method) including coordination with rail systems (track, power supply, overhead contact line, signaling, telecommunications), train operations, construction scheduling and testing and commissioning
Preferred Qualifications
• 5 years of high-speed rail experience
