The role focuses on building robust data models, defining integration patterns, and ensuring high quality data flows from SAP (ECC/S/4HANA, BW and SAP Analytics Cloud (SAC)) and engineering systems into enterprise data platforms such as data warehouses and data lakes.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain conceptual, logical, and physical data models for core EPC business areas.
  • Lead end-to-end data architecture across engineering systems, SAP (ECC/S4HANA), and SAP BW into enterprise data platforms using appropriate Change Date Capture (CDC) extraction methods.
  • Establish standards and patterns for data warehousing, data lakes/lakehouses, and operational data stores.
  • Translate business requirements into scalable, maintainable data architecture solutions.
  • Design and guide Extraction, Transform and Load (ETL) / Extraction, Load, and Transform (ELT) pipelines ensuring quality, lineage, performance, and reliability for structured and semi structured data.
  • Define and implement batch, near real time, and CDC based integration patterns across enterprise applications
  • Enforce data governance including data standards, master/reference models, naming conventions, metadata, and documentation.
  • Ensure data architectures comply with security, privacy, and regulatory standards.
  • Review and validate technical designs from data engineering and BI teams for alignment with architectural and SAP integration guidelines.
  • Lead troubleshooting of complex integration and pipeline issues, driving root cause resolution.
  • Contribute to the data & analytics technology roadmap and evaluate emerging tools and cloud capabilities.
  • Mentor junior team members in data modeling and SAP integration best practices.
  • Integrate GenAI tools (Azure OpenAI, Microsoft Copilot, Databricks GenAI capabilities) into data ingestion, documentation, and governance workflows.
  • Partner with data scientists to operationalize ML models, feature stores, and AI[1]driven predictive analytics within enterprise data platforms.

Basic Job Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, IT, Engineering, or related field.
  • 8–12 years in data engineering/warehousing/analytics, including 5+ years as a Data Architect.
  • Deep expertise in conceptual, logical, and physical data modeling (relational and dimensional).
  • Hands-on experience extracting and integrating data from SAP ECC/S4HANA into data warehouses or data lakes.
  • Practical knowledge of CDC patterns for incremental loads.
  • Familiarity with SAP BW structures and integration into enterprise analytics and S/4HANA Analytics Cloud (SAC).
  • Experience with legacy BDC –based or similar SAP data upload/extraction techniques.
  • Strong SQL skills and experience with at least one major cloud platform (Azure preferred).
  • Solid understanding of ETL/ELT design and pipeline optimization.
  • Excellent communication skills for both technical and non-technical audiences

Other Job Requirements

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in EPC, engineering, energy, chemicals, life science and advanced technologies or similar industrial sectors.
  • Hands-on experience with Azure data services (Azure Synapse, Azure Data Factory (ADF), Databricks, SnowFlake, Azure Data Lake Storage (ADLS)).
  • Familiarity with SAP integration technologies (IDocs, BAPIs, OData, SAP connectors).
  • Exposure to data governance and metadata tools (Purview, Collibra, Informatica, Alation).
  • Understanding of Master Data Management (MDM) for key enterprise domains (customers, vendors, materials, assets, projects).
