Job Description
Your purpose is to drive a culture of safety innovation for our mining and metals projects. Moving beyond traditional compliance, you will develop and implement proactive HSE strategies that set new standards for our clients and projects.
Working closely with our engineering and construction teams, you will integrate safety into our designs from the beginning, ensuring projects are safe to build, maintain and operate.
This role focuses on HSE Engineering, Construction Safety in Design (CSID), and Office HSE. Here’s how you’ll contribute:
HSE Engineering:
• Your role in HSE Engineering will be to ensure safety is embedded in project designs from the outset. You will contribute to project safety setup by developing essential documents like project execution plans, HSE activity plans, and technical control plans.
• You will review project designs (plot plans, general arrangements, 3D models) to validate safety and identify opportunities to reduce maintenance and operational hazards to as low as reasonably practicable.
• Collaborating closely with engineering disciplines, you will also ensure designs meet Fluor, client, regulatory, and risk-based safety and health standards.
• You will lead safety in design reviews and ensure timely completion of HSE study closeout reports, covering areas such as safety in design reviews, emergency eyewash and safety shower locations, escape and evacuation analysis, fire hazard protection, safety signage, and traffic management. Participating in project reviews (model, plot plan, HAZOPs), you will also provide technical input on safety in design.
• You will track safety improvements, ensuring they are implemented at key design milestones, and develop and maintain project-specific registers of HSE regulatory requirements.
• Finally, you will provide technical HSE support as needed.
Construction Safety in Design (CSID):
• Working alongside construction and engineering, you will focus on practical design improvements that enhance construction safety.
• You will analyze the path of construction to find design solutions that minimize hazards and lead design reviews to ensure these solutions are implemented.
• Additionally, you will be responsible for upskilling project managers and project leadership on Construction Safety in Design (CSID), sharing lessons learned from past projects, and applying Fluor’s CSID guidelines to ensure consistent application across all supported projects.
Office HSE:
• You will build a strong safety culture in the office by developing and implementing our office HSE program.
• This may include leading regular safety checks and audits, providing engaging HSE training for employees, and managing our emergency response plans.
• You will also lead the HSE committee, conduct ergonomic assessments, and ensure safety is a consistent part of our office communication.
Basic Job Requirements
