Job Description

The position relies primarily on established policies, procedures, and applicable work practices to make decisions as they apply to the job duties and responsibilities.

Principal Job Duties & Responsibilities

  • Participate in model reviews using a 3D review platform and create 3D models of moderate complexity.
  • Apply project drawing standards to design drawings and 3D layouts.
  • Prepare 2D CAD drawings of moderate complexity.
  • Develop and review project Scope of Services, Scope of Facilities, and other baseline documents for all project phases.
  • Develop estimates, schedules, progress reports, and key-quantity tracking reports.
  • Incorporate HSE considerations into all design activities.
  • Review drawings and vendor equipment documentation verifying compliance with project requirements and proactively seeking resolution of discrepancies.
  • Perform bulk material take‑off analysis and tabulations.
  • Execute project work according to approved Activity Plans.
  • Collaborate closely with other disciplines 
  • Support people development by mentoring less experienced Designers.
  • Travel may be required to attend to business‑related matters.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Basic Job Requirements

  • Accredited two (2)‑year degree or global equivalent in a technical field of study
    OR a combination of education and directly related experience totaling six (6) years.*
    Some locations may require additional or different qualifications to comply with local regulations.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with audiences including, but not limited to:
    management, coworkers, clients, vendors, contractors, and visitors.
  • Job‑related technical knowledge required to successfully perform the role.
  • Ability to learn and apply relevant local, state/province, and federal/national statutes and guidelines.
  • Strong attention to detail and the ability to work in a time‑conscious, time‑efficient manner.
  • Knowledge of commercial availability and cost of materials.
  • Practical field experience.
  • Intermediate computer and software skills, including the use of:
    word processing, email, spreadsheets, and electronic presentation programs.

Other Job Requirements

Advanced Knowledge of:

  • 2D Computer‑Aided Design (CAD) and 3D CAD systems and related procedures
  • Microstation, AutoCAD, Bentley Inroads (legacy software)

Intermediate Knowledge of:

  • 3D modeling software, Bentley OpenRoads Designer, Smart Plant 3D

Basic Knowledge of:

  • Managing and leading small to medium‑sized projects

Preferred Qualifications

  • Mining experience
  • EPCM experience

Compressed work schedule: The Fluor Canada offices work a compressed work schedule offering every second Friday off. 

Salary is based upon experience. Salary Range: $74,000.00 - $138,000.00

The market rate for the role is typically at the mid-point of the salary range; however, variations in final salary are determined by additional factors such as the candidate’s qualifications, relevant years of experience, geographic location, internal pay equity, and prevailing market conditions for the specific role.
