Job Description

The Modularization Manager is responsible for developing and implementing modularization strategies for mid to large-scale Mining & Metals projects. This role holds responsibility for efficient design, fabrication, and assembly of modules to optimize cost, schedule, and quality. The ideal candidate brings a strong background in project management, with proven experience in managing complex, multi-disciplinary projects within the mining and metals  industries.

Principal Job Duties & Responsibilities

  • Lead the development and execution of modularization plans across all project phases including but not limited to pre-fabrication and pre-assembly.
  • Establishing and managing project safety plan and ensuring Health, Safety and Environmental (HSE) is emphasized throughout all phases of the project;
  • Developing a complete understanding of the prime contract and any relevant subcontracts in order to ensure execution of all aspects of the project in accordance with contractual obligations
  • Collaborate with engineering, procurement, and construction teams to integrate modularization strategies into project execution plans including but not limited to timely release of design documents and material delivery.
  • Oversee module design, fabrication, transportation, and installation to ensure compliance with project specifications and safety standards.
  • Manage project schedules, budgets, and risk assessments related to project delivery specific to modularization activities.
  • Oversee fabrication schedule and monitor progress at module yards.
  • Prepare and maintain project budgets, forecast and progress reports.
  • Ensure adherence to project milestones and proactively mitigate delays.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives to enhance modularization efficiency and reduce overall project costs.
  • Ensure adherence to regulatory requirements and Fluor’s standards throughout the modularization process.
  • Identify risks related to module fabrication, transportation, assembly, and site conditions and develop mitigation plans.
  • Manage management of change and maintain accurate documentation of scope changes.  
  • Manage external and internal interfaces to resolve design and execution conflicts promptly.
  • Enforce compliance with applicable codes, standards and project specifications.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Basic Job Requirements

  • Accredited four (4) year degree or global equivalent in applicable field of study and no less than fifteen (15) years of work-related experience in Project/Engineering Management roles
  • At least 5 years in Modularization Management roles including responsibility for pre-fabrication of shop tested process modules on multiple projects in mining or related industries
  • Demonstrated success in a Project Management capacity on multiple medium to large sized project with direct responsibility for $200M+ in scope.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with audiences that include but are not limited to management, coworkers, clients, vendors, contractors, and other stakeholders
  • Job related technical knowledge necessary to complete the job
  • Ability to learn and apply knowledge of applicable local, state/province, and federal/national statutes and guidelines
  • Ability to attend to detail and work in a time-conscious and time-effective manner
  • Demonstrate strong leadership in execution, safety and quality.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Familiar with module design, fabrication and logistics planning to support pre-fabricated modulesof greater than 50 tons 
  • Strong knowledge of modular construction principles, logistics, and fabrication processes.
  • Ability to interface with external parties such as government regulators, engineering firms, industry experts, and clients is a plus.

Compressed work schedule: The Fluor Canada offices work a compressed work schedule offering every second Friday off. 

Salary is based upon experience. Salary Range: $151,500.00 - $300,500.00

The market rate for the role is typically at the mid-point of the salary range; however, variations in final salary are determined by additional factors such as the candidate’s qualifications, relevant years of experience, geographic location, internal pay equity, and prevailing market conditions for the specific role.
