In this role, you will play a key part in driving Fluor’s Mining & Metals capabilities forward by leading technical excellence, ensuring cross‑functional integration, and delivering cost‑competitive, high‑quality engineering outcomes.

Key Responsibilities

Leadership & Technical Management

  • Provide strategic direction and oversight for all mining engineering activities, ensuring alignment with project objectives, industry best practices, and applicable regulatory frameworks.
  • Lead and coordinate a multidisciplinary engineering team to deliver high‑quality designs, plans, and technical solutions that support safe, efficient, and predictable project execution.

Cross‑Functional Integration

  • Direct and manage interfaces between Mining Engineering and key project disciplines, including Process Engineering, Project Controls, Project Management, Procurement & Contracts, Construction, and client stakeholders.
  • Ensure seamless collaboration, effective communication, and timely resolution of cross‑disciplinary issues to support integrated and consistent project delivery.

Cost‑Competitive Execution

  • Champion the application of Cost Competitive Execution (CCE) principles to optimise engineering processes and deliver the most cost‑effective total project solution.
  • Drive value‑engineering initiatives and ensure all technical decisions support efficiency, constructability, operability, and long‑term lifecycle value.

Project Delivery, Compliance & Quality Assurance

  • Monitor performance against baseline man‑hour and material budgets, implement effective change‑management practices, and provide timely reporting on key variances.
  • Maintain proactive communication with Engineering Department Managers, ensuring all deliverables meet required specifications, quality standards, and regulatory obligations.

Basic Job Requirements

  • Accredited four (4)‑year degree or global equivalent in an engineering discipline and a minimum of twelve (12) years of relevant work experience.
  • Professional certification or registration in the applicable field, where required.
  • Strong communication skills, with the ability to engage effectively with management, colleagues, clients, vendors, contractors, and other stakeholders.
  • Ability to understand, apply, and comply with local, regional, and national regulations and guidelines.
  • High attention to detail and ability to work in a time‑conscious, results‑driven environment.

Other Job Requirements

  • Demonstrated experience in process plants and materials handling.
  • Strong competency in effort‑hour estimating and staffing forecasts.
  • Proven leadership, team‑building, and influencing capabilities to drive cross‑functional alignment.
  • Experience in full project lifecycle management—including project setup, development of control‑level schedules, progress tracking, and project close‑out.
  • High resilience and ability to operate effectively under pressure in fast‑paced project environments.

Market Rate Statement: The market rate for the role is typically at the mid-point of the salary range; however, variations in final salary are determined by additional factors such as the candidate’s qualifications, relevant years of experience, geographic location, internal pay equity, and prevailing market conditions for the specific role.
